A note from Randy Wilson to Friends of the Grand River Just a word of thanks to everyone that took part in this year's Grand River Spey Clave on Saturday October 15th,2012. at Bean Park in Paris, Ontario. In spite of cold,rain and drizzle and winds that gusted to 80km nearly 200 people attended this years Clave.A special thanks to O.J. MacDonald for keeping the demos running on schedule and my niece Taryn Wagner for looking after all aspects of the raffle once again and also anyone else who helped with coordinating the Spey Clave in any way.
Thank you to the presenters and guest tyers who gave of their own time to share their skills and experience with us.Thanks to the reps,companies,and fly shops that donated merchandise for prizes for the raffle and also to all the reps for setting up displays at the Clave so that we could play with the various equipment and gear.This years raffle raised $3450.00 that will go to supporting the various conservation efforts of The Friends of the Grand River.
Thanks to my buddies on the BBQ Pete Ellert ,Floyd Dolson and Steve Bagley for preparing and serving the food as well as for willingly getting up at the crack of stupid to help me haul tables food and stuff to the Clave and to anyone that helped to set or tear down at the Clave.
To anyone I have missed please accept my apology for missing you and I hope you understand that you were definitely an important part of the success of this year's Clave.
A special note of thanks to Larry McGratton and The Friends of the Grand River for their support and for sponsoring the Spey Clave this year.In the past the Claves have been paid for by me personally.The expense of putting on the Clave reached a point after several years that I really couldn't afford to sponsor it anymore so thanks to Friends of the Grand for offering to sponsor the event.
A personal and final note of thanks to one of the best friends a guy could hope to swing a fly with.My buddy Floyd.Organizing an event like this over the course of a year can cause a man to become very frustrated at times.hen this happened Floyd was always there to help me keep my cool and stay focused.Thanks buddy I appreciate your support and friendship.
